(Presentation) The emerging field of cannabinoid medicine is similar to the field of neuroscience or personalized medicine, where new advancements in diagnostics, software, and treatments have changed the way medicine is practiced. Yet cannabis research in the United States and other countries is restricted by numerous legal, financial, and social stigma hurdles due to its placement as Schedule IV of the Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs.
An overview of cannabis research past, present and future will highlight how much yet how little we know. Strategies to obtain funding and approval for cannabis research, methods to standardize data collection and analysis, publication opportunities, and product development pipelines will be reviewed. Opportunities to collaborate on research, share data, and advocate for smart cannabis policy through IMPACT Network will be presented.
