Mario joined Brazeau Seller Law in 2017, after completing the summer student and articling programs with the firm. As part of our employment law group, he assists both employers and employees in ensuring that they understand their rights and obligations. He acts on wrongful dismissal claims, human rights proceedings, employment standards proceedings, and restrictive covenant litigation. Mario also advises clients with respect to employment agreements and employee entitlements upon termination of employment.
As a member of BSL’s CannaLaw™ group, Mario advises employers in the following areas:
- Drafting and updating workplace policies regarding cannabis
- Understanding the human rights implications relating to the medical and non-medical (consumer) use of cannabis
- Testing for impairment
- Rights and obligations under federal and provincial cannabis laws
Mario studied at the University of Victoria, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in sociology, with honours and distinction, in 2012. He earned a Master of Arts in Latin American Studies at Columbia University in 2013, and a juris doctor degree (cum laude) at the University of Ottawa in 2016.
Mario is also fluent in Spanish.
