FOX61 has reported the last names of the accused in the Connecticut incident as Demetrius and Medas.

The police department’s arrest log shows Cornelius Medas, 44, has been charged with, among other counts, possession of a controlled substance (cannabis), possession of a controlled substance and possession of any controlled substance within 1,500 feet (457 metres) of a school or daycare.

Rickel Demetrius, 38, faces a number of charges, including possession of a controlled substance (cannabis), possession of a controlled substance, sale with the intent to sell any narcotic and possession of any controlled substance within 1,500 feet (457 metres) of a school or daycare.

Recreational marijuana is illegal in Connecticut, reports the Law Offices of Mark Sherman. Possessing less than a half-ounce (14 grams) of weed is a criminal violation while possessing more than a half-ounce can result in either a misdemeanour or felony charge.

Sending cannabis through the mail has long been an issue, but one that is increasingly attracting notice. Late last week in Ireland, Revenue intercepted six packages of weed, labelled as “sweaters”, “games” and “women’s coat,” from Canada and the U.S. In all, the packages contained 1.8 kg of cannabis, estimated to be worth $55,800.

Decisions to return to crime scenes, thereby making arrests quick and simple, are also not unique. Consider the two California men who forgot a big bag of cash in a hotel room in Oregon, returned for it, were detained by police in the parking lot and were then arrested when the cops found pot in their vehicles.

There was also the panicked teen in the U.K. who bolted when police noticed the teen was consuming alcohol but left behind a backpack. Inside the pack, police found cannabis, cash, a scale and the home address of the bag’s owner.
