“Dude, Where’s My Car?” – Cannabis and the Law on Impaired Driving
(Panel Discussion) The federal government has made extensive changes to Canada’s impaired driving laws in the wake of cannabis legalization. The rationale has been focused on community safety initiatives. However, many of these changes have the potential to adversely impact the individual rights and liberties of drivers. They also introduce new, questionable cannabis testing technology on the roadside. So where do public safety interests end, and Charter rights begin? This panel will drive these complex issues around cannabis & impaired driving – and more – home.
