(PART I) The Right Retail: Do All Roads Lead to Franchising?
Barring the model of cannabis retail by government-owned outlets, the private sector has been parsing the regulations for LPs and retail operators. In B.C., there are limits to the number of licenses that can be given to a single company. In Ontario, there were limits placed on LPs owning more than one retail store. These limits have tended to push interested parties toward the franchise model. This panel will examine the viability of franchising cannabis sales in various jurisdictions, and the market advantage that comes when a customer sees a familiar logo on a retail window.
