Charles is a co-founder of Faircourt Asset Management Inc. Charles has been President and CEO since inception of Faircourt in 2002 leading the development and distribution of all structured products and funds. In 2016, Faircourt created UIT Funds, a wholly owned subsidiary that creates unique investment solutions. In March of 2017, UIT Funds launched the first actively managed mutual fund in Canada focused in the cannabis sector, now called the Ninepoint Alternative Health Fund, (NPP 5420). The fund outperformed the marijuana index and related ETFs in 2018, generating an annual return of 17.5% vs a loss of (19.5%) for the passive ETF strategy.
From 1999 to 2001, he was the Vice President and Managing Director for Charles Schwab Canada, Co., and a member of its Executive Committee. His responsibilities included leading the development of Investment Banking, Syndication as well as Institutional Research.
Prior to that, Charles was in the Corporate Finance group at Porthmeor Securities, where he worked from 1996 to 1999, rising to Director in 1998.
During the period 1994 to 1996, Charles founded Faircourt Capital Corporation, a boutique corporate finance advisory business, working with private Canadian companies.
Charles spent eight years with a major Canadian bank (CIBC) in the mid-market corporate lending area. Charles graduated with a Masters of International Economics from the School of International Affairs at the Graduate School of the University of Pittsburgh in 1988. He received his B.A. from the University of Western Ontario in 1986.
He is married to his wife Barbara for over 30 years and they have 5 children.
