Maurizio Calconi, Executive Recruiter, Talent Acquisition

A born & raised Hamiltonian, with a penchant for adventure:  After high school, Maurizio took the first step in his personal adventure, by leaving Hamilton for Montreal.  Then in 1994, he left Montreal to attend Wilfrid University where he graduated with an Arts & Science degree and played on the varsity football team. A proud Golden Hawk, who praises Laurier for shaping him and putting him on the right course.  After graduation, Maurizio completed a general sciences diploma at Humber College.

Upon graduation Maurizio began his career working in professional services as a consultant in the NFP sector. He managed capital campaigns in Healthcare & Community Institutions. From there, he moved into Consumer-Packaged Goods working in various roles, (with increasing responsibility) with Tier-1 companies, until of course, he was ironically head hunted out of the CPG sector into Executive Search.

Maurizio is now in his 17th year in Executive Search. He has won numerous awards, recognizing his passion for recruitment & for both client and people leadership. He carries a personal belief that to be successful, it is important to be focused on the right things and to not let distractions interfere with your ultimate goals. Maurizio is one of the few Executive Search consultants who has worked on all three sides of the desk:  First as a recruiter/vendor; then as a client and finally as a candidate. On being a candidate, Maurizio commented being on the candidate side of the desk was an incredibly humbling experience”.  That experience led to him launching HIGHFIELD Human Capital in June 2020.  HFHC is focused on recruiting leaders in Operational positions into the Cannabis, Hemp, Psychedelics, NHP and Analytical Testing Labs through out North America.

When asked the question, “What would a candidate say about you?” He responded, “they would say I care & truly want to help in their career development.” Respectively, when asked the same about his clients, he summed it up with, “Tenacious and Direct”
