Tony Asseiro is a Technical Leader with MNP’s Scientific Research & Experimental Development (“SR&ED”) Services team in Vancouver. Tony works with start-ups and manufacturing companies that perform research and nonroutine engineering to help them maximize their tax credits.
Tony has more than 20 years of experience in patents and research and development, including 10 years with Magna International Inc. While at Magna, Tony evaluated intellectual property related to the Ford Focus Electric car development. He also evaluated new ideas from Magna engineers, shop floor workers and external inventors, and prepared and prosecuted international patent applications for in-house inventions. Further, Tony provided legal guidance in the areas of patent licensing and litigation, contracts and trademarks.
Detail-oriented and a skilled communicator, Tony works closely with engineering personnel across many disciplines. His experience includes training various groups in both industrial and academic settings. He helps his clients identify eligible projects and activities, prepare technical reports and structure their R&D activities so they can take full advantage of the tax credit.
